YWCA Paso del Norte Hosts Annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” Fundraiser October 27

EL PASO, Texas – YWCA El Paso del Norte Region will host its annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser on Thursday, October 27 at Southwest University Park at 5:30 p.m.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is famous for having men walk in red high-heeled shoes as a show of solidarity, to challenge gender stereotypes, and to raise awareness of domestic and gender-based violence.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes supports the YWCA’s Sara McKnight Transitional Living Center, where the organization provides housing and support services to women and children, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence or other crimes.

Local boys and men can register now to walk and raise funds to support survivors of domestic violence. Registration as a “walker” for Walk a Mile costs $25.

The second YWCA Paint the Town Red will begin immediately after the march concludes and will feature live music from local band FM Junkies. Tickets to Paint the Town Red are $10.

Registration and tickets can be purchased at www.ywcaelpaso.org.
