For the uninitiated, the acronym “AMI” means “friend” in French, and it also represents the initials of the brand’s founder Alexandre Mattiussi. AMI’s friendly, sincere and laid-back nature is central to its brand values. The fashion label’s men’s and women’s clothing designs are made for everyone and feature great casual, loose and laid-back styles.

The two partner labels are no strangers to each other. Earlier in March this year, the much-loved duo launched their co-designed clothing and footwear assortment. They offered oversized hoodies, pants, shorts, and more. The two also featured a revamped version of the popular Slipstream Mid shoe.

For the fall season, they have teamed up again to release their Suede Crepe basketball shoes in a fall-appropriate color scheme.

The description of the collaboration on the official PUMA webpage states:

“Ami is the French word for friend – and this new PUMA x AMI collaboration is a celebration of unity. A fresh take on the classic suede shoe, it features a minimalist design and bold colors for maximum impact. Materials premium and a genuine crepe sole combine to elevate the style.Together we achieve more.

In the latest partnership, Alexandre Mattiussi infused his minimalist ideals into the classic basketball silhouette. The side and mid panels feature a striking green stripe, in addition to contrasting white stitching.

The entire shoe is immaculate beige suede. AMI’s heart symbol and the footwear brand’s iconic cat logo are neatly hidden beneath the co-branded tongue label design.

Rounding out the shoe, an eponymous crepe midsole is wrapped in a gum rubber outsole for grip and durability.

The new PUMA x AMI Suede Crepe “Pristine” shoes are slated for release on October 14th. Priced at $120 a pair, these basic low-top shoes will be offered through the shoe company’s online stores.

Interested readers can even sign up on the brand’s website to be notified when the upcoming shoe goes on sale.

Learn more about Alexandre’s AMI

Alexandre Mattiussi is the creator of AMI, which was created about ten years ago. The brand’s founder is a Frenchman who launched the fashion house in 2002.

However, the business was quickly shut down and reopened later in 2011. During this hiatus, Mattiussi worked with many major fashion houses including Givenchy, Marc Jacobs and Dior Homme.

By launching its very first “Menswear for Women” collection during its Fall/Winter 2018 show, organized in January of the same year, the brand made a significant change. The collection contained men’s clothing that had been altered and adapted for female customers. Nevertheless, the fashion brand has certainly attracted a lot of attention due to its creative designs.
