We were hired at car park, given clothes to dress as Bishops – Fake Bishops complain about N100,000 payment promise failed

Alleged false bishops at Tinubu’s running mate unveiling ceremony.

Facts about how the All Progressives Congress, APC, allegedly hired Christian clergy and women to help unveil the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, have emerged.

Recall that Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC, unveiled Wednesday in Abuja the former governor of Borno State as his running mate.

Images of cassock-clad bishops attending the event flooded social media amid controversy surrounding the same ticket of faith.

The ruling party is currently receiving backlash from Nigerians for hiring bogus bishops in a bid to claim support from the Christian community in the presidential race.

One of the “bishops” who spoke with Peoples Gazette, Joseph Odaudu alleged that they were hired from a car park.

According to him, APC members promised to pay them 100,000 naira each.

He however lamented that he only got N40,000 instead of the promised N100,000.

“They came to meet us at the parking lot behind Eagle Square and they promised to give me 100,000 naira. They bought us food and took us to another place where they gave us clothes to dress as Christian leaders and reverend fathers,” Mr. Odaudu told The Gazette.

“But after I finished they only gave me 40,000 naira and another person said they only got 30,000 naira. I don’t know why they changed our deal because they said they have 100,000 naira for us.

“I’m a Christian and I support Tinubu but I hate it when people lie and don’t keep their promises,” he added.

However, Tinubu’s campaign organization TCO had debunked reports of bogus bishops, saying they were clerics without big names.

TCO, in a statement from its Director of Media and Communications, Mr. Bayo Onanuga said the Bishops have not been hired.
