The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period August 11-18, 2022. Due to its length, this report has been divided into five parts. This is the second part. Please note that an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Person – South Madison: A male subject was arrested for an exceptional violation of probation and a false name and date of birth after being visually identified by an officer. Subject was transported to Walton County Jail without issue.
  • Civil Issue – S Broad St; In reference to the complainant’s brother-in-law who took his truck after giving him money. No title or bill of sale for the truck was given by the brother to the plaintiff. Civil remedies advised; report taken.
  • Fire Assistance – E Church St; Matt Laundry: In reference to clothes that caught fire in one of the clothes dryers. The building was evacuated and smoke was cleared from the building. The building was closed by firefighters until the key holder could be contacted.
  • Mental Patient – S. Madison Ave. In reference to the complaint about the desire to be taken to hospital. She was taken to the hospital.
  • Suspicious Person – E Washington St. – In reference to a man engaging in sexual activity. Negative contact with the male.
  • Suspicious Person – Susie Wings – A male subject was observed walking around Susie’s wings. He had an active probation warrant from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, he was arrested and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Fight – Pine Park St & Lacy St: The complainant was informed of a group of over 40 youths who were fighting and damaging property. Negative contact.
  • Loud Music – Ridge Rd. – Refers to a vehicle playing loud music. Zone checked with negative contact.
  • Argument – Southern Brewery – In reference to grown adults arguing with teenagers over which car is faster. The parties were asked to go home.
  • Intoxicated – Bridgeport ln: In reference to a female subject advising that she wanted the officer to tell her boyfriend about her drinking. The parties were separated and remedies were advised.
  • Juvenile Complainant – Lacy Street – In reference to a juvenile man and woman being out after curfew. Citation for parental responsibility written for Cameron’s mother. And a CHINS report filled out for the other at his mother’s request.
  • Traffic Stop – N. Madison & Bold Springs Ave. Subject was arrested on an Oconee County warrant following a traffic stop. Turned over to Oconee authorities in Striplings.
  • Counterfeit – West Spring Street in reference to an older man being paid for a counterfeit $20 bill. The counterfeit note was placed in Property and Evidence.
  • Juvenile Trouble – Wheelhouse Ln; A 17-year-old called because his mother wanted to kick him out of the house. She stated that he is not listening and that she will go to juvenile court the next day.
  • Fraud – Route 138; A subject received a check in the mail that was not real. She was advised that it was a common scam and not to try to use the check.
  • Threats – N. Broad Street. The complainant reported that an unknown person sent him a threatening text message after he refused to send them money after he had already sent them $200.
  • Dispute – Morrow St. An unknown woman called and said a named subject hit her while she was driving. Contact made with one who was walking alone and said he had not been with a woman.
  • Property damage – E. Washington; – The vehicle was hit on the previous date. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop – E. Spring & Bulldog Tire. Subject arrested and released on a ticket for driving with a suspended licence.
  • Wanted Person – South Broad Street: Female subject arrested on an outstanding VOP warrant after being visually identified by an officer. She was transported to the WC prison without incident.
  • Lost and Found – Route 138 Great Oaks; The complainant wanted to report the disappearance of her newly purchased glasses. Staff on site indicated that she suffered from severe senile dementia.
  • Deceased – Colquitt St – In reference to a woman reuniting with her deceased stepfather at his home. She indicated that he had some health issues to which he eventually succumbed. The coroner has been notified.
