Punjab government cuts price of 10kg sack of flour to Rs 490 – Latest News – The Nation
LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz on Thursday announced an annual subsidy of Rs 200 billion on wheat under the chief minister’s relief package which also included subsidies on other edibles.
“After this record subsidy, 10kg sacks of flour will be available at Rs490 instead of Rs650 from today across Punjab,” the chief minister told a press conference here. Hamza said a subsidy of 17 billion rupees on wheat would be given every month, which would have an overall annual cumulative effect of 200 billion rupees. He said the PMLN-led government has decided to reduce the annual burden by about $200 billion through the provision of subsidized flour. The provincial government, he said, had purchased 4.5 million metric tons of wheat this year, for which the food secretary deserved praise. “Wheat is available in the international market at Rs 4,000 per maund while the government has purchased wheat from farmers at Rs 2,200 per maund,” he said. He was accompanied by MPAs, Asad Khokhar, Syed Hassan Murtaza, Moaviyah Azam, Mian Khalid Mahmood, Jugnu Mohsin, Nouman Langrial, Awais Leghari and Ata Ullah Tarar and Zeeshan Rafiqthe.
The CM said that steps are being taken to reduce the prices of sugar and ghee and people will soon receive more good news in this regard. “I would visit the bazaars to monitor the price control mechanism,” he said and pointed out that the Sharif family sweets have taken the initiative to reduce the sugar level. He said the government was also trying to reduce the prices of essential items and that district price control committees had been reactivated across the province, alongside the finalization of a comprehensive price control policy. “Actual profit is a right of traders, but no one will be allowed to make illegal profits,” he observed.
Speaking about the unprecedented delay in forming the cabinet, he regretted that the cabinet could not be sworn in due to the president’s violation of the constitution. “The president has not respected court rulings and there has been no instance of such violation of the constitution in 74 years of history. Whoever sits in the President’s House is Pakistan’s culprit as the province of 12 million people is still working without a governor,” he said. He said enmity was committed with the people by not taking oath in the Punjab cabinet as many decisions are made by the cabinet. “But I want it to be crystal clear that I will continue to serve the masses without wasting any movement.” He said Pervaiz Elahi had attacked female PML-N legislators in the assembly through morons and was now showing another stubbornness by not taking the interim governor’s oath. “Who would have been responsible if something had happened to Dost Mazari?” he asked. “Pervaiz Elahi should stop shedding crocodile tears. The law will come into force,” he warned.
Hamza also harshly criticized PTI Chairman Imran Khan and accused him of trying to create anarchy and unrest. “Imran Niazi should listen that I will continue to support the people despite the obstacles created by him and no power on earth could prevent me from serving the masses,” he said, adding that Imran Niazi had done havoc in Pakistan for four years. The CM would have regretted that Imran Niazi had conspired to defame the constitution by attacking them and the increase in the dollar rate was the result of the inefficiency of Imran Niazi who could not make up his mind to approach the IMF for six month. During his period, the rupee fell by 40%, he added. “This man brandishes the slogan of the revolution by committing acts of cruelty against the nation. It is serious that Imran Niazi claimed that the families of army men would participate in his march and that the institutions should take this into account. This man does not shy away from a plot to defame the armed forces while enemies are active, political uncertainty is on the rise and the economy is faltering. He wants the devastation of the country”, regretted the CM. He went on to say, “What was your schedule if you weren’t supposed to cut potato and onion rates as PM.” He said Imran Niazi launched a fake accountability slogan but could not justify Toshakhana’s flight “You are committing hostility with Pakistan and institutions and people should take notice because you have angered countries friends.
and suffered irreparable losses in diplomatic relations”
CM maintained that his leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif taught him to serve the masses. “Because of Imran Niazi’s bad policies, prices have skyrocketed. The common man’s purchasing power is almost exhausted.
The life of the poor has become hell. It doesn’t matter if my cabinet can take the oath, but I will continue to stand with the masses. I will stay in this position as long as Allah Almighty is happy that I continue to serve the masses. They are sowing chaos in the country while we heal the wounds of the people,” he remarked.
CM Hamza pledged to solve the people’s problems with political allies and added that the public service journey would be advanced. He alleged that officers had been assigned after minting money in their previous terms, but that honest and hard-working officers were assigned on merit by the incumbent government. He announced that patients with different diseases, as well as cancer, would receive free medicine and challenged Imran Niazi to face him in the political arena as he could not match the performance of the incumbent government. “We will not take revenge,” he added.
On a question, he said that the PML N government ceded a country without load shedding in 2018. He said that the power plants were not maintained during Imran Niazi’s tenure and relatives and relatives benefited oil and people. had to face the consequences. “Farah Gogi was running Punjab and she was minting money. The true faces of the culprits of the people would be brought before the masses. The PTI does not want this system to work and Imran Niazi repeats the mantra ‘I disagree’, but Pakistan would continue to survive. However, the people should keep a watchful eye on Imran Niazi as he is committing enmity with the country to satiate his ego. That’s why he violated the constitution and if the Supreme Court hadn’t opened at midnight, there would be no law in the land. The only solution to the crises facing the country is transparent elections,” he said.
To another question, he called the long walk Imran Niazi’s fear walk. “A former Rawalpindi minister used to say handcuffs are our jewel and jail is our home, but the next day he goes to court and gets bail.” He said Imran Niazi and his cronies should account for 4 years of robbery. “Shehzad Akbar froze my brother’s accounts for many months and legal action was taken against us as a form of revenge, but we would not do anything that smacks of revenge,” the CM concluded.
