Kind Bag to accelerate growth plans

Sustainable fashion accessories company Kind Bag will accelerate its growth plans after securing new funding.

The east London business has received a £250,000 loan from Triodos Bank UK to support its development.

Kind Bag creates bags made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, which are themselves 100% recyclable. Products include backpacks, pouches, reusable bags and totes.

The company is aiming to become a premier accessories brand and will use the new funding to grow its team, invest in marketing and grow its line of bags through new product development.

As well as selling through its own website, the company has listings with retailers such as Selfridges, Waterstones, Anthropologie and Kew Gardens. It also exports to over 25 countries around the world with international accounts such as Macys, David Jones and Bealls.

Founded by director and general manager Maria Rodriguez, Kind Bag actively aims to support and collaborate with female artists. This has included collaborating with illustrators Roeqiya Fris and Maggie Stephenson on two lines of printed shopping bags.

Rodriguez said, “We are excited to grow the business even further and look forward to bringing unique, stylish, ethical and eco-friendly accessories to a wider audience. We are happy to work with Triodos, a bank that fully understands our social and environmental mission. Good ethics are at the heart of what we both do.
