Comfortable shoes and comfort for the community

This holiday season, choose comfortable and stylish shoes for yourself or to give as a gift, and do a good deed for your community at the same time. The Shoe Market sponsors Holiday Give Back to benefit two local organizations, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and SPCA of the Triad. You can participate by making a donation of any size.

Family-owned for 30 years, The Shoe Market specializes in comfortable shoes that look and feel fantastic. With more than 60,000 athletic, dress, work and casual shoes in stock in the 30,000 square foot space, store staff can provide you with hard-to-find sizes – from women’s size 5 to 13 and from men’s size 7 to 17 – in very narrow or extra wide widths.

Do your feet need attention? The footwear market focuses on footwear that can relieve discomfort caused by plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, diabetes-related foot problems or pain in the ball of the foot, as well as knee problems, hip or back that benefit from a specific type of shoe.

Local efforts feed the hungry, protect animals

“This is our second year sponsoring Holiday Give Back,” said Perry Calhoun, President of The Shoe Market. “We think it’s very important to give back to the community that keeps us in business. We want to take care of the people who take care of us. »

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern North Carolina puts food on the table for people in need, collecting food from grocers, farmers, manufacturers and food processors and distributing it to partner programs. The Triad SPCA cares for abused, neglected and injured animals, providing them with food and shelter, and matching pets with foster homes and forever.

“These are two organizations anyone can support, and all of your donations stay local,” Calhoun said.

Give and receive

To participate in Holiday Give Back, go to the Shoe Market between November 13 and December 12. You can simply make a donation, or add your donation to a credit card transaction and nominate which of the two organizations you wish to support – or both. You will receive a receipt for each donation. “We want it to be easy to give,” Calhoun said.

Every penny you donate to Holiday Give Back gives you the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped feed the hungry or care for animals in your own community. There’s also an added incentive to donate, Calhoun said. Every day from December 13-24, the store will raffle off a $50 gift certificate good for The Shoe Market merchandise. For every $2 donation you receive one raffle ticket and for every $5 contribution you receive three raffle tickets. With a draw every day for 12 days, you could win more than once.

“The Holiday Give Back is a win-win, encouraging people to help others in the community with the possibility of a small bonus for their Christmas shopping,” Calhoun said.

Whether you are looking for a pair of cozy Ugg boots, trendy Birkenstock clogs, comfortable sneakers from Hoka, On Running, Brooks, or New Balance, or a gift certificate for that hard-to-buy family member, The Shoe Market is your one-stop-shop. Find the perfect pair of shoes, give back to the community, and know that your generosity is supporting people and animals right here at home.

The Shoe Market is located at 4624 W. Market St. in Greensboro. For store hours, visit the website or call 336.546.6383.
